Gender Dialogues

Various dialogue formats are used to promote scientific exchange on the relevance of sex and gender dimensions. Perspectives from gender studies, science and technology studies (STS) and STEM research are discussed with each other. In addition to input-based formats, you will also find exchange-based formats as work in progress.

Lecture series and conferences

These formats offer the opportunity to discuss specialised content with experts and gain an insight into other specialist areas.
As far as possible, the inputs are made available digitally in the toolbox as a pool of knowledge.

Lecture series „Forschung im Dialog“ (started 2024)

Three lectures or panel discussions will take place each semester, some of which will be held in digital or hybrid form. You can find out which lectures are planned or have already taken place in our corresponding blog posts.
You are welcome to suggest potential speakers and topics that interest you. Please write to us gedimint@tu-braunschweig.de.

Conferences (2024, 2026, 2028)

Conferences are held every two years: in 2024, the theme was Synergien schaffen (Creating synergies. STEM meets gender meets STEM), in 2026 private sector research and development will be included and in 2028 the focus will be on the results of TU research projects.

All announcements can be found here.

Work in progress – TU-internal exchange

The aim of the TU’s internal work in progress formats is to get to know each other’s research and to develop an understanding of different approaches and research cultures. Interdisciplinary encounters on the concrete object – the research site or the ongoing research process – as well as the joint development of ideas contribute to better interdisciplinary cooperation. And this is what is needed when considering sex and gender dimensions in STEM research.

Excursions to labs and other research sites

Brown bag lunches and method excursions offer the opportunity to gain an insight into the respective research and working culture of other disciplines. The programme includes visits to laboratories and archives or workshops on text work and survey methods.
If you would like to offer such an excursion to your research institution or would like to get to know a particular research institution, please contact the GeDiMINT team; we will take care of organising the proposal.

Workshop discussions on research questions

This format makes it possible to obtain feedback from colleagues in the ongoing process of considering gender dimensions in one’s own research. Space is provided to discuss preliminary ideas, approaches and findings in confidence and to gain confidence through interdisciplinary feedback, to gain new impetus or to break new ground.
If you are at a point where you would like to discuss a research outline, a draft method or initial evaluations in an interdisciplinary manner, for example, you are welcome to contact the GeDiMINT team and we will organise a workshop meeting tailored to your wishes.

Research circle for idea development

This format is suitable for discussing the challenges of integrating gender dimensions into research across disciplines, e.g. within the framework of the research focus areas or the research centres at TU Braunschweig. It ties in with the TU Braunschweig’s specialised academic circles and can also be used as preparation for the seed-funding offer of Forschungsimpulse. This is a partly moderated process that can be kept variable in terms of topic, duration and organisation. With the involvement of external expertise, sex/gender-relevant references to the research area can be discussed together in order to generate new interdisciplinary research ideas and projects.
If you are interested in this format, please contact the GeDiMINT team; we will organise it according to your wishes.
