Knowledge Exchange

GeDiMINT promotes public knowledge and science communication at universities with regard to sex and gender dimensions in STEM research. At the same time, it contributes to the transfer of knowledge in this area outside the organisation. This includes publications and the provision of (digital) materials as well as intensive networking in order to make findings and results available in the long term.
If you have further ideas or are organising an event at which the project should be represented, please contact us gedimint@tu-braunschweig.de.

TU Braunschweig

We contribute to the communication of the objectives, measures and results of the project in various ways.

TU Braunschweig

All members of TU Braunschweig are continuously informed about the activities in the GeDiMINT project via various channels. In addition to the GeDiMINT website, this includes articles in TU-related newsletters such as Die Woche, TU-Magazin or newsletters from the core research areas. TU Braunschweig’s social media channels are also used. Project presentations also take place at university-wide events.
Blog posts on the website of the Braunschweig Centre for Gender Studies (BZG) also regularly publish upcoming activities and thematic focus articles. Annual reviews can also be found there.
A structured and continuous exchange with the faculties, research centres and service facilities is established and maintained.

Knowledge transfer (Urban society)

To strengthen the transfer of knowledge to urban society, the conferences and the “Research in Dialogue” lecture series in particular are advertised throughout the city. In this way, a public interested in science will be informed about sex and gender dimensions in STEM research.
Involvement of the press is also planned.

Video profiles

The video profile format will be used to present best practice examples and the scientists involved. They will be part of the toolbox and can be found on the TU Braunschweig YouTube channel.
If you consider gender dimensions in a research project focussing on STEM and would like to contribute to visibility with a video profile, please contact the GeDiMINT team: gedimint@tu-braunschweig.de.

A list of the video profiles will follow here asap.

Digital publications

GeDiMINT promotes the transfer of knowledge through material collections and the transfer to existing digital collections.

GeDiMINT toolbox

All open source materials from the project and gender-sensitive TU research are made publicly accessible in the GeDiMINT toolbox as a repository, especially case studies and methodological approaches, presentations, publications and best practice examples as well as video profiles.
By translating into English, selected results and findings can be made available internationally. Prof. Dr Londa Schiebinger from Stanford University has made it possible to integrate innovative examples from TU Braunschweig into the globally reknown platform Gendered Innovations

GeDiMINT-Transfer paper on structural development

The team is developing so-called GeDiMINT transfer papers from the project. These provide an insight into measures that contribute to the anchoring of gender dimensions in research and support researchers on this path. They aim to communicate the findings from the pilot project at TU Braunschweig to stakeholders at other universities and research institutions.

Research database (FIS): how to integrate sex, gender and diversity?

A two-part query on a) sex and gender and b) other diversity dimensions was integrated as a mandatory field for new entries in the research database (FIS). This was done in close cooperation with the TU Braunschweig’s Research Service, the central advice centre for research funding and applications.

Our GeDiMINT transfer paper “FIS diversity query” provides a concrete insight into the process.

Open Access publications

As part of the project, scientific publications on the structural development process and publications on gender-sensitive STEM research at TU Braunschweig are being produced. The aim is to publish these in open access.
Possible publication venues for this include
Gender Open Repositorium – DFG-funded platform for publications from Gender Studies
LeoPARD – Database for publications and research data from TU Braunschweig
Open Gender Journal – peer-reviewed open access journal for the publication of scientific articles from intersectional gender studies
Gendered Innovations – a peer-reviewed platform developed at Stanford University since 2009

At the end of the project, a collection on successful structural development processes and sex/gender-sensitive STEM research networks will be published in the Open Gender Journal.

Networks and mailing lists

Since the beginning, GeDiMINT has focussed on good networking in order to facilitate an exchange with other projects in the “Gender Aspects at a Glance (GiB)” funding guideline as well as with interested research institutions and researchers. This has resulted in the following three mailing lists.
Interested parties can register here to be added to one of the distribution lists.

GiB-Network

Target group: all employees of funded GiB projects in the implementation phase

Aim: The GiB network is used to exchange information about the structural development process, to communicate about joint projects, to provide information about upcoming projects and to coordinate a joint transfer of knowledge. Networking enables collegial support and the generation of synergy effects.

Here is an overview on the homepage of the DLR Projektträger.

GiB-Transfer

Target group: all organisations and individuals interested in information from the GiB projects

Aim: This is used to announce public events at the various locations (primarily online). Once a year, there is also an invitation to a cross-project transfer event. Previous findings and examples of best practice are shared there. In the best case scenario, this enables other universities and research institutions to pick up on successful structural development measures. An exchange in presence takes place within the framework of the KEG (Conference of Institutions for Women’s and Gender Studies in German-speaking Countries), about which information is provided.
If required, space can also be created for a joint exchange on structural measures to strengthen gender dimensions in research. The mailing list also enables a cross-location exchange of expertise and offers the opportunity to support each other in the search for materials, speakers and information.

GiB-MINT (GiB-STEM)

Target group: all projects, organisations and individuals interested in the findings relating to STEM research

Aim: The GiB-MINT mailing list enables an exchange on special requirements in the research of sex and gender dimensions in STEM disciplines as well as networking in science and technology studies. This includes STEM expertise as well as the search for materials, speakers and information in the STEM field.

External knowledge transfer

An integral part of this is the transfer of experience and findings from the GeDiMINT project to cooperation partners and interested stakeholders from other research organisations. To this end, the GeDiMINT team provides the infrastructure for a mediating and advisory exchange. Individual events are opened up to interested parties from outside the TU.
If you would like to stay up to date, you can contact the GeDiMINT team to be added to the “GiB-Transfer” or “GiB-MINT” mailing list (see Networking).

Networks for knowledge transfer

Networks with various focal points exist for the external transfer of knowledge, in particular for the transfer from all BMFTR-funded projects in the funding line “Geschlechteraspekte im Blick (GiB)” as well as a network with a focus on STEM research. You can find out more on the page GiB-network. If you are interested, please contact us: gedimint@tu-braunschweig.de

External cooperation partners

GeDiMINT cooperates with the following institutions for knowledge transfer. If you are also interested in a co-operation, please contact the GeDiMINT team: gedimint@tu-braunschweig.de.
